ANANTOLIAN QUEEN ran very well at Kempton on Monday to finish third on her racecourse debut. The conditions were terrible for a filly first time out, the continuous rain had made it very soft. She missed the break and then had to come around horses to make her run, it is always hard to make up ground in such soft ground but she ran on well. James was not surprised by her run as he always thought she was a nice filly, she certainly showed plenty of promise and is hopefully another filly to follow through the season ahead. It was especially nice for the owners who live in Turkey but were over here to see her run and were obviously very pleased with her.
BLUE PATRICK runs at Chester on Thursday in a mile and a quarter handicap. The horse is in good form at home but will probably need the run. The ground is likely to be soft which is unknown territory for him but at the moment it is hard to avoid the rain. LAST APPOINTMENT is entered at Lingfield on Friday but is unlikely to run as he hates soft ground. The only way he could run is if the ground is so wet and they transfer the fixture to the all weather.
ANDURIL has a choice of engagements, he is entered at Beverley on Saturday and Windsor on Monday. He is improving with every run so he should run well and will not mind the ground as he has run well on soft ground before. LOCATOR is due to make his seasonal reappearance on Saturday evening at Thirsk. James is not sure what his ideal trip will be yet but he is trying him over a mile first time out. He is looking forward to seeing him run.
The 2 year olds are coming on well now and a batch of 10 came up Long Hill grass gallop yesterday morning. ROMANTIC GIFT and HIGHLAND CASCADE could run in the next fortnight. They won’t mind if the ground is soft as they have both worked on soft ground at home and don’t seem to mind it .
