CHIEF SPIRIT steps up in trip to 10 furlongs tomorrow in a handicap at Pontefract and he is drawn 9 of the 9 runners. He ran well in maiden over a mile at Newbury first time out this year but in his next run at Sandown he looked as if the trip was too sharp for him. He is closely rated to NORSE KING who is a good horse over 12 furlongs so we have always thought that he could stay further. He did have a slightly interrupted preparation between His Newbury and Sandown race so he may have just need that run, he is in good form at home and has sharpened up since that last race. We hope that the ground will not be too quick for him. His last 2 races were on good to firm ground but both jockeys thought that he wouldn't want it any quicker. They are continuing to water so hopefully it will be fine for him and we are hopeful of a good run tomorrow.
